The Child Life Department at Cook Children's Medical Center collects items to meet the needs of patients and families in emergency need. For example, a request may come from the Emergency Department staff when a child needs a change of clothing following a traumatic accident. Children admitted to the Behavioral Health Unit often arrive with only the clothes they are wearing, and new moms who accompany their infants when they are transported to the Medical Center's Neonatal Unit sometimes need a set of clothing until their family arrives. Needs include…

• Shorts, pajama bottoms, or lounge pants (size 2T – adult XXXL)

• Underwear (size 2T – adult)

• Sports bras (all sizes)

• Infant sleepers or clothing

• Socks (especially for men and women)

• T-shirts (all sizes)

• Travel-size toiletries: deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, toothpaste

• Feminine hygiene products

• Toothbrushes (adult and child size)

• Hairbrushes (no mirrors or pointy ends please)

• Baby wash and baby lotion

• Gift certificates for Payless Shoes for tennis shoes for children in rehab (to fit over splints or braces)
